Managing Breaks in the Crew App

How breaks work in the Movermate Crew App, where to start one, how overlapping job/activity breaks are handled, and how multiple breaks are recorded.

Breaks are synchronized across your shift, jobs, activities, and timesheet so the same break is never recorded or counted twice. Where you start a break depends on what you're currently doing.

When a Job Is Active

Start and end your break from the Job screen.

When you start a break from a job:

  • The break is recorded against that job.

  • Your active timesheet automatically switches to an on-break state.

  • The break stays linked to the job.

  • The Time Sheet screen reflects that you're on break.

  • You don't need to also start a break from the Time Sheet screen.

Resuming the job automatically updates the break and continues your working time.

When an Activity Is Active

Same principle, start and end the break from the Activity screen. The break is recorded against the activity, your timesheet reflects it automatically, and resuming the activity updates it without any extra step.

Starting a Break from the Time Sheet Screen

The Start Break option on the Time Sheet screen only appears when you don't have an active job or activity. Use it for a general break between work sessions for example, after finishing one job and before starting the next.

If a job or activity is currently active, Start Break is hidden start the break from that job or activity instead. This keeps the break tied to the correct work session and avoids a duplicate.

One Common Shift Break

Your timesheet only maintains one overall break state at a time. Once a break starts (from anywhere), your timesheet reflects it you never need to start the same break twice from different screens.

When a Job and Activity Overlap

Sometimes a job and an activity run during overlapping periods. Each one can carry its own break, while your shift keeps a single combined break state. Example:

Time

Job

Activity

Timesheet Break

3:00 PM

Break Starts

Starts

3:10 PM

Break Starts

Remains Active

3:30 PM

Break Ends

On Break

Remains Active

3:45 PM

Break Ends

Here, your overall shift break runs 3:00–3:45 PM. The overlapping period is not double-counted.

Multiple Breaks

You can take more than one break during the same job or activity — each is recorded with its own actual start/end time. Example:

JOB3644 – Merrill Caldwell (07:14 PM – 07:55 PM)

  • Work: 07:14–07:30 PM

  • Break: 07:30–07:35 PM

  • Work: 07:35–07:45 PM

  • Break: 07:45–07:50 PM

  • Work: 07:50–07:55 PM

Total Duration: 41 minutes · Total Break: 10 minutes · Net Working Time: 31 minutes

How Breaks Appear in Daily Breakdown

Breaks are listed chronologically and show which job or activity they relate to, e.g.:

JOB2135 – Customer Name · 2:00–5:00 PM · 3 hours Break – JOB2135 · 3:00–3:30 PM · 30 minutes

A break started directly from the Time Sheet screen while nothing else is active shows up as an unassigned break.

Important Break Rules - Quick Reference

  • Start a break from the active job when working on a job.

  • Start a break from the active activity when working on an activity.

  • Only use the Time Sheet screen's Start Break when nothing else is active.

  • Never record the same break in more than one place.

  • Only one overall timesheet break state exists at a time.

  • Overlapping job/activity breaks aren't double-counted.

  • You can take multiple breaks within the same job or activity.

  • Review your breaks in the Daily Breakdown before submitting.
